Company founders Steve Galvin (CEO) and Dave Dorman (President) have over 70 years of collective experience in the education credit industry, both starting at Sallie Mae in 1982.
Stephen J. Galvin, Chief Executive Officer, has over 35 years of extensive experience in the education credit marketplace. Mr. Galvin is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration.
After two years with Arthur Andersen & Co. in the Emerging Business Group, Mr. Galvin took a position as a Senior Internal Auditor with the Student Loan Marketing Association ("Sallie Mae"). Over the next eight years Mr. Galvin held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in Sallie Mae's strategic planning, finance, and marketing departments.
In February 1992, Mr. Galvin founded Education Funding Services, Inc. ("EFS"). In a span of five years, EFS grew to be the nation's most innovative developer of education credit programs for health profession students, including the very first private student loan program available to U.S. citizens attending foreign medical schools in 1993. In 1997, EFS merged with UICI's student health insurance group to a new entity, the Educational Finance Group, Inc. Under Mr. Galvin's leadership, EFG grew to become a top 10 originator and holder of student loans, one of the largest providers of loan servicing, and the preeminent marketer of student health insurance products. EFG employed over 600 professionals dedicated solely to the task of providing financial and insurance solutions and products to colleges, universities, students and families.
In February 2001, Mr. Galvin formed Education Investment Company, LLC (Ed-Invest) with Dave Dorman. Since its inception, Ed-Invest has generated and managed over $3 billion in high quality student loan assets for a wide variety of financial and institutional investors.
David S. Dorman, President has over 35 years of wide-ranging experience in the student loan industry. Mr. Dorman's educational background includes both an MBA (Management) and BS (Marketing Management) from Virginia Tech.
After nearly three years with a management consulting firm, Mr. Dorman started his student loan career at Sallie Mae in 1982. As a Senior Analyst in the Contract Servicing Division, he helped oversee all due diligence, default management, and claims functions at Sallie Mae's third party servicers.
Since leaving Sallie Mae in 1985, Mr. Dorman has held executive-level positions at student loan lending companies, student loan servicers and a leading default prevention firm. Mr. Dorman has served on national committees and has been a featured speaker and/or panel participant in numerous student loan conventions, conferences, and workshops, including a recent "Presentation on Alternative/Private Student Loans" at the U.S. Department of Education's National Default Aversion Conference.
At EFG, he was responsible for the National Accounts, Product Development, Industry Relations, and Customer Service Departments. He developed and maintained several national student loan programs that generated over $300 million in annual loan volume. Mr. Dorman also designed, developed, and implemented all of EFG's federal and private student loan products.
Upon leaving EFG in 2001, Mr. Dorman and Mr. Galvin formed Ed-Invest, which specializes in providing concierge-level student loan products and portfolio management services to numerous financial and educational institutions.
